OPA1612AID

Dual audio operational amplifier with very low distortion and a 40 MHz gain bandwidth in a SOIC-8 package.

The OPA1612AID is a Texas Instruments dual audio operational amplifier with extremely low distortion and noise, a 40 MHz gain bandwidth and a supply range of 4.5 to 36 volts, in a standard SOIC-8 package. It is designed for professional and high-quality consumer audio, where total harmonic distortion plus noise below a few ten-thousandths of a percent preserves the clarity of the signal through the gain stages. The wide supply range lets it run from the rails of a typical audio system, and the high bandwidth keeps the audio band flat and the phase response well behaved. Because it is a dual device, one package can handle two channels, which saves board space in a stereo or multi-channel path. The part is also useful in precision measurement where low distortion and low noise matter more than microvolt offset, such as signal conditioning ahead of an ADC in an audio-band application. It complements a precision amplifier such as the OPA333, which is optimized for offset rather than distortion. Every device is factory-traceable and ships with an import declaration, a certificate of origin and RoHS documentation. BeiLuo holds this part in regional stock and our FAE team supports audio and signal-chain design.

FAE Professional Review

This is our recommendation for audio signal paths that must stay clean through several gain stages. The distortion and noise are low enough that the amplifier is not the limiting factor in a well-designed path, and the dual channel saves space. It is not a precision part in the microvolt sense, so use the OPA333 when offset dominates. Keep the supplies decoupled and the layout symmetric between channels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is distortion so important in audio?

Distortion adds content that was not in the original signal, and in a multi-stage path it accumulates. A low-distortion amplifier keeps the signal clean through the gain stages.

THD+N is the parameter to watch in an audio path.

What supply does it need?

The part operates from 4.5 to 36 volts, so it runs comfortably from the rails of a typical audio system, either single-supply or split-supply.

Decouple the supplies close to the device for best performance.
